Everything you need to know about me, Shelly Baker

Shelly Baker of Mrs Baker's Cakes

Hi, my name is Shelly, I'm wife to the lovely Mr Baker and Mum to our 3 mini bakers. I have been designing cakes for over 8 years and I am a very creative person. I have had many corporate jobs in the past, but none have challenged me as much as cakes and I love how I can make almost anything I can think of! My love of cakes comes from my late Mum who sadly passed away just before I started the business. She would create some of the coolest cakes and it always left me thinking of bigger and better things I would like for my next birthday. So in honour of her I decided I should start my own business and share all the lovely things she gave me. I put my need for perfection down to her instilling it into me at a young age to always do my best and never settle for second best. So I run my business in her memory and in the hope that I can do her proud with every cake I make. 2013 brought me much laughter and fun with all the new designs I produced. It was a busy year, not only did we move house, we had a purpose built studio installed and I was also busy working on my first book which was released in February 2014. 2015 and 2016 were so much fun with teaching at the prestigious Marlborough College and doing event demonstrations and lots of local events. If you are yet to visit for a class, you really are missing out. Each class is great fun and I'm always so proud watching each and every student sit in awe of the work they have done.

I've crammed so much fun in the last 8 years it's hard to show you it all but here are a few of my favourites. I often work with some of the biggest names in cake decorating magazines and I've been honoured to judge some fabulous cake competitions, working with Christine Wallace was great fun.

Writing my book and seeing it on the shelves of book stores was one of my proudest moments. I still find it so surreal when readers email me from across the world to let me know how helpful it's been. Hearing that will never get old, it feels great knowing I'm out there helping people I'll never meet.

In 2016 my online courses were taken by student's from across the globe from Japan to Gambia, American, Kenya and so many places in-between. It's been an incredible experience and so much fun getting to know everyone.

2017 Has seen the launch of my new business based courses, helping those who have a talent for cake baking to build a profitable business.
